31/01/2025 - The (old) debate rant

I kind of wanted to write something today but i couldn't really find the words or felt like talking about any topic. 
I do have things to talk about i can think of right now, but i guess I just need to be in the right headspace to be able to put things into word on the moment.
Anyways, instead i figured id repost something that checks that out, which is a rant i posted in february 2023 on my private twitter, at like 2AM.
I think it still holds up and is only going to ecome more and more relevant as the internet keeps polarizing. It's already pretty bad in that regard.
The whole thing was quote retweeting a post saying "if u defend this we do not gaf. 👍🏾 the comments r not a debate section so have fun on ya own".
Don't know what OP was talking about as the original tweet is now deleted, but it's irrelevant anyways. Here goes :

"we live in an era where people refuse to discuss and debate and refuse to acknowledge any opinion that is not theirs. 
debating is interpreted as something where the objective is to prove that you are right instead of discussing different ideas to understand other povs better and fucking think together. 
humanity as a species was able to reach this stage we are currently in because language enabled us to share ideas and think together. 
no motherfuckers in humanity came up with shit alone. everything is a group effort 
but for some fucking reason now debating is a matter of ego. you want to crush whoever youre up "against" because itll make you feel better about your sorry ass self.
thats some fucking retro evolution shit right there. thats the peak of narcissism. i fucking hate this shit.
if theres something that will cause our downfall imo it’s exactly that. fuck your little comfort, fuck your echo chamber. stop being an asshole and listen to others. 
listen to the people you disagree with. fucking talk to them. use what fucking language is for and exchange ideas.

social media, echo chambers and polarization obviously play a major role in this, and the media doesn't help (seriously, current day "journalism" is more akin to clickbaiting. its pathetic) 
but it feels like there's also a narcissism thing going on, which i guess could be caused by social media. 
i'm honestly not sure. It's not like i studied social media or whatever either. I'm just a clown that thinks a lot. And I'm probably biased to some level, as much as i try not to be.
Anyways, I'm opened to hearing what you people think of that(would be pretty hypocritical of me otherwise), so if you think I'm stupid do tell me, you know where to find me.

I thought I should add some kind of comment section under the posts, i might try and figure out how that works whenever. Could be cool.

Anyhow, thank you for reading :) I'll probably find other rants or long blocks of thinking eventually and post them here. That's what this is for.
